Until I’m Finally Home

This world is not my home, my mansion in heaven waits
My Shepherd leads the way towards the pearly gates
Through valleys filled with enemies God’s favor on me rests
Teaching me eternal truths and how they manifest

I will fear no evil with God’s Presence at my side
In paths of righteousness I’ll follow, with Him as my guide
Through every circumstance I learn of His provisions
God’s Word providing light for myriad decisions

There are other pathways that tempt with strange allure
When earthly passions lead, the dangers are obscure
Until I’m caught in bondage it might seem the way to go
My Shepherd seeks me out, delivering me from woe

I need to persevere and choose to do God’s will
Untold riches and rewards God will then fulfill
I decide to live in faith of His promises to me
Until I’m finally home where I’ll spend eternity

Psalm 23:5-6 – “You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely your goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever.”

John 14:1-3 (KJV) – “Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
2 In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.”

Hebrews 11:13-16 – “All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. 14 People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. 15 If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.”
