Feelings of despair Of seeing unanswered prayer A darkness of night With total absence of light Eternity filled days With promises delayed Faith holding sure While trying to endure Deaths coming release To never ending peace God’s promises now seen Of heaven’s glorious scene Debbie Furey May 1, 2020 Hebrews 11:13,39,40 – “All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth.” “39 These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, 40 since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.” Hebrews 11 and 12 As I was thinking of my blind friend Grace this morning, I remembered how difficult the last two years of her life were. Her body was very handicapped to begin with, but the last two years of being bedridden and confined to bed or a chair must have felt like an eternity every day. God’s promises must have seemed so far away to her, but her faith held strong in the Lord. Now she is with the Lord who was her strength and hope. This poem wistfully came to me this morning along with the Scriptures of hope in Hebrews.
