Call for the Dawn

When you turn away from God, you create your own night
In the shadow of your turning, you end up blocking His Light
Deep darkness of soul will then enter your heart
Causing the Presence of the Lord to quietly depart

Awake oh dear soul, bring the night to an end
Morning star’s light calls your heart to ascend
It appears in the darkness to show you the way
Announcing the path to never-ending day

Thick darkness is over the people–it covers the whole land
They are lost and searching for what they don’t understand
Proclaim freedom for the prisoners, held captive by their sin
The year of the Lord’s favor is about to begin

The oil of gladness poured out on all who mourn
A garment of praise to cover the despairing, forlorn
Proclaim freedom from darkness, bring the night to an end
Awake oh dear soul, call for the dawn to ascend

2 See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you. 3 Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.”

2 Peter 1:19 – “We also have the prophetic message as something completely reliable, and you will do well to pay attention to it, as to a light shining in a dark place, until the day dawns and the morning star rises in your hearts.”
