Stay Close by Me

“Lord, why are you crying?”, I said in dismay
“I know what’s coming and whose hearts will go astray
They will violate My covenant and be seduced
With the pleasures of the world, they’ll be slowly induced”

“For one to depart from, they first had to be joined
Those who stay close by Me cannot be purloined
Satan comes to pick off the half-hearted and weak
Ones who love the world and it’s pleasures they seek”

“My people who know Me shall prove themselves strong
By the words of their mouth, you’ll know whose side they belong
Stand firm and hold on then to the teachings you know
To those who overcome, My hidden manna I’ll bestow”

Daniel 11:32 (AMP) – “With smooth words [of flattery and praise] he will turn to godlessness those who [are willing to] disregard the [Mosaic] covenant, but the people who [are spiritually mature and] know their God will display strength and take action [to resist].”

2 Thessalonians 2:3-4 (AMP) – “Let no one in any way deceive or entrap you, for that day will not come unless the apostasy comes first [that is, the great rebellion, the abandonment of the faith by professed Christians], and the man of lawlessness is revealed, the son of destruction [the Antichrist, the one who is destined to be destroyed], 4 who opposes and exalts himself [so proudly and so insolently] above every so-called god or object of worship, so that he [actually enters and] takes his seat in the temple of God, publicly proclaiming that he himself is God.”

2 Thessalonians 2
Revelation 2:12-17

In 2 Thessalonians 2, it talks about a falling away that’s coming in the future. The words, falling away, are a translation of the Greek word, “apostasia” or apostasy. Some call it the rebellion. For one to fall away from something they first had to have been joined together. In Daniel 11:31-32, he talks about a person setting up an abomination that causes desolation at the time of the end. This person will corrupt, pervert, seduce with flattery those who violated the covenant. Only God’s people have a covenant with Him. The unsaved do not. To violate God‘s covenant means to sin against God and His Word. These people will turn or fall away from the faith. But the people who know their God (intimately) will firmly resist this godless person. That is the secret to being able to keep from falling away from God. To stay close to and know God will keep us from falling away from Him.
As I was studying these verses this morning, I asked the Lord what was on His heart. As I waited before Him, in my mind I saw many tears falling. I couldn’t see where they were coming from but I sensed they were from the Lord. I then asked the Lord, why are you crying?
