A Sinner’s Plea

Forgive all my sins, Oh Lord of my heart
The enemy comes to rob and steal hoping I’ll depart
Your kindness leads me to repentance and grace
Waiting on bended knee, I seek Your merciful face

Open up my eyes to see sin crouching at my door
Give me courage, not despair, hearing Satan’s roar
Only the fear of the Lord will keep me safe and pure
With grace imparting wisdom to help me then endure

Sin is a hidden trap–it awaits all those who stray
Finally swallowing them whole at the last judgment day
If I walk in the Spirit, sin’s lure will not tempt me
In the light of Your Presence, Your path I do see

Genesis 4:6-7 – Then the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”

1 Peter 5:8 – “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
