Sometimes I am too busy to listen for Your voice
Your Spirit is watching as I weigh each daily choice
Will I ask You for direction or go my willful way?
I need to take the time to listen and quickly obey
Standing on past promises You whispered in my ear
In faith I wait for Your fulfillment as the time draws near
I choose not to make them happen in my time and will
I trust You know the way for Your promise to fulfill
My heart knows You are faithful and will Your promise keep
Though the wait is painful and causes me to weep
I choose to trust You, Your promises to hold
When You are done testing me, I will come forth as gold

Hebrews 11:11-12 – “And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise. 12 And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore.”
Job 23:10 – “But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.”
Genesis 15, 16, 17
Has there been times in the past where you thought you knew God’s will? Did you feel deep inside that God had spoken to you about a matter you cared very deeply about? Did you feel confident that God would answer your prayer? How tempted were you to take matters into your own hands when God didn’t fulfill it in the time that you thought it should be? Abraham and Sarah also felt that God had made a promise to them, that they would have a son together. When it didn’t happen in their time, they took matters into their own hands. Their disobedience produced a son by another woman. This decision had eternal consequences. God was still true to His Word. Because God was faithful, He still gave them their promised son. Abraham believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness.
