Presumption is a Sin

Don’t let your sins and failures hold you back from Me
Rather, just the opposite, into My mercy flee
To all who are repentant, grace is waiting for you there
Reach out and grab ahold as it descends in holy air

Do not presume upon My mercy, you must come to Me
Forfeit all your pride because you must come humbly
Your attitude of entitlement is foreign to My thought
The road to eternal life is with much danger fraught

Presumption is a sin that has waylaid many a soul
Seeking to impose its will and then it takes control
You must die to self and then seek out My will
Understand My Word so their values you’ll instill

Tell me who can discern the error of their ways?
You will if you follow My Word all your earthly days
My decrees make wise the simple, much joy they will impart
Know there is great reward in seeking out My heart

Psalm 19:9-13 – “The fear of the LORD is pure, enduring forever. The decrees of the LORD are firm, and all of them are righteous. 10 They are more precious than gold, than much pure gold;
they are sweeter than honey, than honey from the honeycomb. 11 By them your servant is warned; in keeping them there is great reward. 12 But who can discern their own errors? Forgive my hidden faults. 13 Keep your servant also from willful sins; may they not rule over me. Then I will be blameless, innocent of great transgression.”
