Our Final Destination

Arriving or departing at the airport gate
Brings you through a portal that you navigate
It took much preparation just to get you there
So you could put your trust in a plane high in the air

You weren’t made with wings but you know that you can fly
In a plane so wondrous high up in the sky
You don’t know how it works, but you’ll put your trust in those
Who sit up in the cockpit and wear nice pilot’s clothes

This life is a journey that you navigate
When you come and you go you pass through a portal gate
Everything we go through prepares to get us there
Our final destination–to meet the Lord high in the air

We weren’t made with wings but we know that we can fly
When the Lord comes back for us, high up in the sky
We don’t know the day but we’ll put our trust in those
Who lead us in the way of righteousness and dress in love’s clothes

1 Thessalonians 4:15-17 – “According to the Lord’s word, we tell you that we who are still alive, who are left until the coming of the Lord, will certainly not precede those who have fallen asleep. 16 For the Lord himself will come down from heaven, with a loud command, with the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet call of God, and the dead in Christ will rise first. 17 After that, we who are still alive and are left will be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. And so we will be with the Lord forever.”
