Keep My Lamp Aglow

Me:
Do not pass me by, sweet Jesus, do not pass me by
Night’s long shadow witnesses an ever-deepening sigh
I’ve been too busy, to take the time, to listen for Your voice
I bid You come to visit me causing my spirit to rejoice

Wake my soul from slumber deep, so I can hear You call
Your warnings to be always ready, I do now recall
Holy Spirit, give me oil, to keep my lamp aglow
Let living waters, from Your throne, now begin to flow

Dispatch angels standing by waiting for my prayers
Release Your miracles from above, disproving the naysayers
Let Your Glory fall on all, who desire to do Your will
Driving back encroaching darkness, that seeks to rob and kill

Lord:
I’ve been waiting for your call, let Me be your desire
It’s from My Presence you receive My Holy Spirit’s power
Come to Me with holy hands, lifted in surrender
I’ll answer you with grace and mercy, also love most tender

Job 9:10-11 – “He performs wonders that cannot be fathomed, miracles that cannot be counted. 11 When he passes me, I cannot see him; when he goes by, I cannot perceive him.”

Psalm 63 and 134
Matthew 25:1-13

Shepard of My Soul

Lord, carry me in Your arms back to the fold of the sheep
I had lost my way, I’m weary, causing me to weep
Seeing I was missing, You searched until You found
Rescuing me from danger, my wounds You then bound

You left the ninety-nine to go after the one who was lost
The price You had to pay, carried a tremendous cost
You took my place for punishment and death, on Calvary’s hill
Becoming sin in my place-the righteous law to fulfill

Therefore, God has exalted You, to the highest place known
Every knee will bow down and worship before Your holy throne
Oh, Shepherd of my soul, keep me on the path to Your place
On the road marked holiness, mercy, truth and grace

Galatians 3:13-14 – “Christ redeemed us from the curse of the law by becoming a curse for us, for it is written: “Cursed is everyone who is hung on a pole.” 14 He redeemed us in order that the blessing given to Abraham might come to the Gentiles through Christ Jesus, so that by faith we might receive the promise of the Spirit.”

Every Word

You love at all times, life’s plans are in Your hands
The principles You have given are not suggestions but commands
Much pain could be avoided, if I would truly listen
Finding treasure in Your Word, watching it sparkling, glisten

Sweeter than honey, so much more precious than gold
Your precepts never change, existing from eons’ old
Even the heavens declare-the glory of Your Name
So that every tongue will proclaim Your everlasting fame

Your Word, like a mirror, reveals the error of my ways
To keep Your servant from sin, all my earthly days
Forgive my hidden faults and cleanse me of my sin
By them is Your servant warned then granted a full pardon

Your mighty voice goes out upon the circle of the earth
As I glory in Your Word and discover it’s true worth
Man shall not live, only by bread alone
But by every Word that proceeds from Your throne

Psalm 19

Heart Purity

I am mighty fighting battles, mighty then to save
To rescue men’s souls, My dear Son I gave
You can now live-without fear, shame, or sin
Rest in My love as you invite My Spirit in

Your branch will sprout anew when connected to the vine
Fruit will then appear with flavors so divine
Your crop might be sent to the ends of the earth
Refreshing all who eat of its precious worth

Beware of the foxes that come to spoil your vines
Attacking luscious fruit that produces My fine wines
You become a target when you seek to please Me
Rise up in faith-use the mighty sword I have given thee

Accept My forgiveness, close your ears to the accuser
Resist the sly one, who is a thief and abuser
Let discouragement flee as you repent and turn to Me
Your joy, I’ll restore, as you seek heart-purity

A Sinner’s Plea

Forgive all my sins, Oh Lord of my heart
The enemy comes to rob and steal hoping I’ll depart
Your kindness leads me to repentance and grace
Waiting on bended knee, I seek Your merciful face

Open up my eyes to see sin crouching at my door
Give me courage, not despair, hearing Satan’s roar
Only the fear of the Lord will keep me safe and pure
With grace imparting wisdom to help me then endure

Sin is a hidden trap–it awaits all those who stray
Finally swallowing them whole at the last judgment day
If I walk in the Spirit, sin’s lure will not tempt me
In the light of Your Presence, Your path I do see

Genesis 4:6-7 – Then the LORD said to Cain, “Why are you angry? Why is your face downcast? 7 If you do what is right, will you not be accepted? But if you do not do what is right, sin is crouching at your door; it desires to have you, but you must rule over it.”

1 Peter 5:8 – “Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”

Romans 2:1-13
Psalm 19:7-14

Return to Me

People look to other gods–ones that they have made
Thinking they bring them life and peace, and from disaster shade
How can something made of wood-protect you from a fire?
Can something that does not move, bring you your heart’s desire?

My people have forsaken Me, a spring of living water
To lean upon an idol large that easily can totter
An image fashioned by their mind, that they can understand
Something they can see and hold, to make a strong demand

You have brought this on yourselves, by forsaking Me
Desecrating My land with idols under every spreading tree
What fault did you find in Me that you have strayed so far?
You even think your destiny is written by a star

Return to Me, and I will return to you, says your Heavenly Father
I’m searching for you daily, My beloved son and daughter
I will not rest until I see you running back to Me
The plans I have for you are good-stretching to eternity

Jeremiah 2:11-13 – “Has a nation ever changed its gods? (Yet they are not gods at all.) But my people have exchanged their glorious God for worthless idols. 12 Be appalled at this, you heavens, and shudder with great horror,” declares the LORD. 13 “My people have committed two sins: They have forsaken me, the spring of living water, and have dug their own cisterns, broken cisterns that cannot hold water.”

All Who Overcome

Come along side prior saints to accomplish My eternal plan
I have known who is Mine since before the world began
You are being made perfect together now with them
All who overcome will receive a diadem

This crown will last forever that you are contending for
In this life you can be more than a conqueror
Hardship and persecution prove your love for Me
They are your badge of honor for all eternity

I only took to heaven the scars that I bore
They will tell My story of My love forevermore
What you did for Me on earth will matter forever
Your scars will testify of your every endeavor

Hebrews 11:39-40 – “These were all commended for their faith, yet none of them received what had been promised, 40 since God had planned something better for us so that only together with us would they be made perfect.”

Revelation 3:11 – “I am coming soon. Hold on to what you have, so that no one will take your crown.”

1 Corinthians 9:25-27 – “Everyone who competes in the games goes into strict training. They do it to get a crown that will not last, but we do it to get a crown that will last forever. 26 Therefore I do not run like someone running aimlessly; I do not fight like a boxer beating the air. 27 No, I strike a blow to my body and make it my slave so that after I have preached to others, I myself will not be disqualified for the prize.”

Romans 8:37 – “No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.”

In Servant’s Clothes

The holier you grow the more hidden you get
That is one way to escape pride’s shrouded net
You will not desire to search others out
Seeking My Presence daily is the path of the devout

The narrow way of holiness is hidden from those
Who seek to profit from Me dressed in vanity’s clothes
Notice their eyes and heart are as dark as the night
Deceived by the presence of a bright angel of light

Humble yourself, therefore, under God’s mighty hand
The ways of the Lord you will then understand
My power and My glory are surely given to those
Who choose to love and honor Me and dress in servant’s clothes

2 Corinthians 11:14-15 – “And no wonder, for Satan himself masquerades as an angel of light. 15 It is not surprising, then, if his servants also masquerade as servants of righteousness. Their end will be what their actions deserve.”
Philippians 2:5-8 – “In your relationships with one another, have the same mindset as Christ Jesus: 6 Who, being in very nature God, did not consider equality with God something to be used to his own advantage; 7 rather, he made himself nothing by taking the very nature of a servant, being made in human likeness. 8 And being found in appearance as a man, he humbled himself by becoming obedient to death—even death on a cross!”
Romans 12:3 – “For by the grace given me I say to every one of you: Do not think of yourself more highly than you ought, but rather think of yourself with sober judgment, in accordance with the faith God has distributed to each of you.”

Daniel 10:12 – “Then he continued, “Do not be afraid, Daniel. Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them.”

Sons of the Dawn

Two kinds of risings are starting to appear
From two different sources they cannot cohere
Battle lines are drawn because this cannot go on
Between sons of the evil one and sons of the dawn

You are not in darkness, so it will not surprise
Put on your armor and meet Me at sunrise
Dress in faith and love so it protects your heart
As you read My Word My directions I’ll impart

They are very proud when they say that they are woke
Hidden is the fact that they are slaves in a yoke
Arise from your slumber and put on the armor of light
That is the only way to drive out the night

You are children of the light and children of the day
When you read My Word and choose to obey
Arise with My glory and people will be drawn
They will join with you to be the sons of the dawn

Isaiah 60:1-3 – “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you. 2 See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you. 3 Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.”

1 Thessalonians 5:4-6 – “But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should surprise you like a thief. 5 You are all children of the light and children of the day. We do not belong to the night or to the darkness. 6 So then, let us not be like others, who are asleep, but let us be awake and sober.”

Romans 13:11-14 – “And do this, understanding the present time: The hour has already come for you to wake up from your slumber, because our salvation is nearer now than when we first believed. 12 The night is nearly over; the day is almost here. So let us put aside the deeds of darkness and put on the armor of light. 13 Let us behave decently, as in the daytime, not in carousing and drunkenness, not in sexual immorality and debauchery, not in dissension and jealousy. 14 Rather, clothe yourselves with the Lord Jesus Christ, and do not think about how to gratify the desires of the flesh.”

Isaiah 58
1 Thessalonians 5:1-11

King of Great Worth

You are King over all the earth
You are a mighty Savior of great worth
Nothing can compare to Your eternal reign
By Your power You can break any chain

With mercy, grace, and love You choose to rule
Great value is placed by You on my soul
You call me to reign and sit by Your side
Inside my heart, by Your Spirit, You guide

By Your light search the hidden depths of my soul
Find what is broken and then make me whole
By the blood You shed I am made new
Everything I am going through You foreknew

What can I give to such a King of great worth?
Everything I own comes from Your earth
All that I have comes from Your hand
I choose to follow Your every command

Psalm 18: 30-35 – “As for God, his way is perfect: The LORD’s word is flawless; he shields all who take refuge in him. 31 For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God? 32 It is God who arms me with strength and keeps my way secure. 33 He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights. 34 He trains my hands for battle; my arms can bend a bow of bronze. 35 You make your saving help my shield, and your right hand sustains me; your help has made me great.”

Psalm 24:1-5 – “The earth is the LORD’s, and everything in it, the world, and all who live in it; 2 for he founded it on the seas and established it on the waters. 3 Who may ascend the mountain of the LORD? Who may stand in his holy place? 4 The one who has clean hands and a pure heart, who does not trust in an idol or swear by a false god. 5 They will receive blessing from the LORD and vindication from God their Savior.”
Revelation 3:19-22 – “Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
21 To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. 22 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”
Psalm 15, 18, 24
