Viewpoint of Angels

Even angels long to look into these things
Concerning salvation and the grace that Christ brings
Evil angels were not given the chance to repent
When Satan’s rebellion led to their banishment

To their great surprise a blood sacrifice was made
That day in the garden when Adam disobeyed
A fig leaf would not do so an animal was slain
To cover their sin and God’s forgiveness obtain

Angels marvel to see men living in such pain
Choosing to serve God in the darkest domain
Overcoming by faith in the blood the Lamb paid
In testimony and action God’s Word they obeyed

Unlike the angels, men have the chance to repent
Hell is reserved for the wicked and disobedient
Choose salvation and the mercy that Christ brings
Even angels long to look into these things

1 Peter 1:10-12 – “Concerning this salvation, the prophets, who spoke of the grace that was to come to you, searched intently and with the greatest care, 11 trying to find out the time and circumstances to which the Spirit of Christ in them was pointing when he predicted the sufferings of the Messiah and the glories that would follow. 12 It was revealed to them that they were not serving themselves but you, when they spoke of the things that have now been told you by those who have preached the gospel to you by the Holy Spirit sent from heaven. Even angels long to look into these things.”

Revelation 12:11 – “They triumphed over him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony; they did not love their lives so much as to shrink from death.”

1 Peter 1

If even the angels long to look into the salvation that Christ brings, shouldn’t the men on earth long to look into those things? When angels disobeyed in the bible, they did not have the chance to repent. For men living in the darkness of this present time, we can choose the ways of God and live according to His Word. When we fall short of what is written there, we have the chance to repent and be forgiven by God. If you don’t know about this, you need to look into these things! It will matter for all of eternity.

My Heart Remains Steadfast

My heart remains steadfast and trusting in You
Peace reigns in my soul though dark forces pursue
Their plots against me are coming fast and strong
In the midst of it all my heart rejoices in song

Don’t let me fail the test to keep my heart pure
Only by Your Spirit can I escape sin’s lure
I will not let bitterness and unforgiveness in
They lead to dark paths whose destination is sin

I’ll let you be God and fight my battles Your way
My soul is set straight so I won’t go astray
Let heaven record the way my heart will take
I’ll reflect Your likeness when in heaven I awake

Psalm 17:15 - As for me, I will be vindicated and will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.

1 Samuel 25:14–42

The Lord allows trials in our life to test our hearts and to see the way that we will take. Will we go the way of our sinful nature, or will we show forth the qualities of our God?

Greatest Treasure

Me:
Each poem I write is a tribute to You
A stone of remembrance to re-read and review
I treasure the times we meet face-to-face
By faith I see You and feel Your embrace

Lord:
When you seek Me with your whole heart you will then find
The greatest treasure that was ever designed
I will be found by you on the day you call
My peace will be yours and your heart will enthrall

Your sins I’ll forgive and wipe the slate clean
My Son’s blood paid sin’s price to forever intervene
This promise is only for those who will believe
Eternal life is the gift from Me they’ll receive

Deuteronomy 4:29 – “But if from there you seek the LORD your God, you will find him if you seek him with all your heart and with all your soul.”

Joshua 4
Jeremiah 29:11–13

Every morning in my devotion time I like to re-read some of the poems I’ve written in the past. They are like stones of remembrance to me. That is the reason I put the date on all of my poems. I want to remember when and where I was when I wrote them. The date also identifies what book they are in.
It is a time I set apart to be in God’s Presence and listen for His voice. He is so faithful to meet with me. I like to record what I feel He is saying to me. The Lord wants to talk that way to anyone who will seek Him with their whole heart. His Word promises that He will be found by you when you seek Him with your whole heart.

Communion

Me:
I was transported to Your table on that holy night
Your church was all around me to my great delight
Bread and juice were there, for all who would partake
Joy and sorrow shared, for what You were to undertake

Lord:
Come and eat My body, come and drink My blood
My sacrifice has saved you from death’s whelming flood
When My blood’s applied to the door of your heart
Death’s angel passes over and then will fast depart

I am the promised Lamb that came to take your place
You did not earn it–it’s only by My grace
A communion takes place when everyone is there
Worthy is My bride because of the sufferings that we share

Matthew 26:26-28 – “While they were eating, Jesus took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and gave it to his disciples, saying, “Take and eat; this is my body.”
27 Then he took a cup, and when he had given thanks, he gave it to them, saying, “Drink from it, all of you. 28 This is my blood of the covenant, which is poured out for many for the forgiveness of sins.”

Romans 8:16-17 – “The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”

Romans 8:18–39

As I sat down this morning, by myself, ready to take personal communion to remember our Lord’s death, I felt like I was transported in a moment of time back to the night of the Lord’s supper just before His death on the cross. It seemed that I was even sitting at the table with the Lord and His disciples and a knowing came inside of me that whoever was taking communion at this moment in time was also seated with us around the same table. There was a holy hush as we watched the Lord reach for the bread and wine and offer it to us.
Be sure you take communion often as a remembrance of what Jesus did for us. In doing so, you will join the communion of saints around the world partaking of His sacrifice.

Your Ways

The deep things in Your Word are what I hunger for
It gives a glimpse of You behind heaven’s hidden door
Golden treasures waiting there, soon to be discovered
Forgotten truths to learn, restore, and be recovered

I will search for wisdom, and understanding to
There I’ll find the fear of God and know just what to do
Discretion will protect me, and guard me all my days
When I am obedient and walk in all Your ways

The paths of the righteous are marked with quiet peace
To those whose walk is blameless, their vision will increase
Victory in the promised land, to fight and then possess
I set my heart to follow, Your ways of righteousness

Daniel 2:22 – “He reveals deep and hidden things; he knows what lies in darkness, and light dwells with him.”

Psalm 19:7-11 (KJV) – “The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.
8 The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.
9 The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring forever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
10 More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
11 Moreover by them is thy servant warned: and in keeping of them there is great reward.”

1 Corinthians 2
Proverbs 2

A deep yearning came in in my heart this morning to hear the heart of God. I felt the Holy Spirit directing me to find this treasure in God’s Word. It is God’s Spirit in us that causes us to want to do what He directs us in His Word to do. This is called the grace of God. It helps us to walk in God’s ways.

God’s View

My heart has such peace that the world doesn’t know
As I stand in faith, I feel God’s mercy overflow
Oh, that the world would know of God’s greatness that surrounds
Of His love and grace that has no limits and no bounds

Peace like a blanket He sends to comfort my heart
When I trust God, the gift of faith He’ll impart
Know the perfect love of God can cast out all fear
As I draw nearer, His voice I will hear

When this life is over and I see life’s lessons I’ve learned
I’ll find it was God’s grace that could not be bought nor earned
I’ll understand His love in everything I went through
Life’s mysteries uncovered as I see from God’s view

Isaiah 55:8–9 – “For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways,” declares the LORD. 9 “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.”

Isaiah 55
1 John 4

Did you ever feel God’s peace like a blanket cover you? That is what I felt this morning as I wrote this poem.
It reminded me of the time shortly after my husband’s death when I was looking for a new home. As I walked through the model home in January 2013, I stood in the master bedroom near the window and tried to picture myself living there. As I did, it was like a blanket of peace came down and covered me and comforted me. All of a sudden, I knew this was home. After the house was built and I was living in it, the place where I felt the peace of God falling on me that cold winter day is the place where I do my daily devotions. I don’t think that was a coincidence. In making big decisions in your life always seek God’s peace.

Love’s View

When your heart is fixed on Me
You will see people like I do
It is through adversity
Your love will be proved true

Most things of great value
Have a cost that’s very high
When I saw through love’s view
On the cross I chose to die

Let this same thought be in you
To give your life for those
Your selfish thoughts subdue
As My Spirit in you grows

Now that you know the way
A life of love pursue
My power you’ll display
Your enemies you’ll subdue

1 Thessalonians 2:19–20 – “For what is our hope, our joy, or the crown in which we will glory in the presence of our Lord Jesus when he comes? Is it not you? 20 Indeed, you are our glory and joy.”

1 John 4:10–12 – “This is love: not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. 11 Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. 12 No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.”

1 John 2:9–11, 3:11-24

I love this memorable quote from Mark Twain, “The most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.”
What do you feel is the purpose for your life on earth? Could it be to learn to love how God loves? We could have never understood this in the perfection of heaven. Let us not miss any opportunity to grow in this area for that is the heart of the matter.

Reflect My Glory

Me:
Before my Commander, I kneel down and pray
What are the orders you have for me today?
I’ve put on my armor, and have my sword and shield
Holy Spirit lead the way, to the battlefield

Lord:
Before you go to battle, make sure you hear from Me
You must follow orders to secure the victory
I gave you mighty weapons to use at My command
Now go forth in faith to recover back your land

I’ve sent angel armies to fight alongside you
As you listen closely, I’ll tell you what to do
Declare My Word boldly into the atmosphere
Your faith releases power to the angels gathered near

Know that I go with you and will lead the way
You’ll reflect My glory that will be on full display
Nations will awake from their night time of despair
To the brightness of this rising, nothing can compare

Isaiah 60:1–3 – “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.
2 See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you. 3 Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.”

Ephesians 6:10–20
Joshua 5:13-15

The same sun that can melt butter on a hot sidewalk can also harden clay to a brick. It all depends on what the sun (Son) is shining upon. Those whose hearts are tender will melt under His glory, but those whose hearts are made of clay will only be hardened by that same sun (Son).
No soldier goes into the battlefield without his armor on. If we are wounded, we cannot effectively fight. God provides the armor for us in Ephesians 6. Armor reflects light much more than regular clothes do. If we are following the Lord into battle, our armor could reflect His glory and blind the enemy. However, it is not only our armor that will reflect God’s glory but also our hearts. Is the light of His glory rising in your heart? If it is, nations will come to this light and kings to the brightness of our dawn.

King’s Heir

“What is the Word You have for me today?”
“What would you like to know?” I heard the Lord say
“What is on Your heart?” Was my honest reply
“You would love and trust Me, as I purify”

“Know I seek your good and want for you the best
That your soul would prosper through each and every test
Draw close to Me as I guide you by My eye
Know Me as your Father who is willing to supply”

“Do not make light of the discipline I send
Clothe yourself with love and you will not offend
Set your heart on things above as I lead you there
Live a life that’s worthy to be known as the King’s heir”

Romans 8:14-17 – “For those who are led by the Spirit of God are the children of God. 15 The Spirit you received does not make you slaves, so that you live in fear again; rather, the Spirit you received brought about your adoption to sonship. And by him we cry, “Abba, Father.” 16 The Spirit himself testifies with our spirit that we are God’s children. 17 Now if we are children, then we are heirs—heirs of God and co-heirs with Christ, if indeed we share in his sufferings in order that we may also share in his glory.”

Hebrews 12
Colossians 3

Isn’t it the desire of every father to have his children look and act like him? When other people see his kids, he would love to hear them say, “They are just like their father.” That is what the Lord desires for us as His children.

Powerful Weapons

To your battle stations, sound out the alarm
The enemy has conspired to do My people harm
He is planning an attack to trap them in their sin
My people must repent of deceitful desires deep within

The devil gains a foothold when you live with a lie
If you wink at your sin, his power you amplify
Do not grieve the Holy Spirit with whom you were sealed
It causes many casualties upon the battlefield

I send My Word through prophets to speak what is true
If you don’t believe them, there is nothing I can do
My people wandered in the desert through the burning sand
Their sin of unbelief kept them from the promised land

Put off the former way of life and put on the new
Powerful weapons of warfare will be supplied to you
As you ascend My holy mountain you will find them there
I send My angels with you as you meet with Me in prayer

Ephesians 4:25–27 – “Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body. 26 “In your anger do not sin”: Do not let the sun go down while you are still angry, 27 and do not give the devil a foothold.”

Ephesians 4:17–32
Numbers 25:1–18, 31:15–16

As I was preparing to teach my Bible study class for tonight on spiritual weapons of warfare, the Bible verses above came to my mind. These weapons are important but the power behind them is from the Holy Spirit. When we walk in purity and truth we will then walk in power. The sin of Balaam was to trap God’s people in their sin so that God could not bless them. This happened on their way to the promised land.
The Greek word for foothold used above, can also be translated to mean, a legal right to grab hold of an area. Some people call this an open door because our sinful actions can open a door to evil and destruction in our life. Repentance closes the door.
