I Am the Light of the World

I am the Light of the world that you see
It had to come first before life came to be
This Light existed before the sun was made
Darkness lives, in the shadow of earth’s shade

Turn to Me so you’ll reflect My glory
Darkness can’t hide in Light’s territory
All is exposed in My Spirit’s searching rays
To those who choose to follow Me and My ways

Darkness cannot enter a fully lit room
My joy is available to displace sin’s gloom
Receive Me in faith and believe on My Name
My Spirit in you will set your heart aflame

One day on earth the sun will no longer shine
My glory will go forth to provide Light divine
No longer will there be any curse or sin
Life on the new earth will finally begin

As it was in the beginning, then it will be
There will be no more night time and no more sea
No more mourning, death, tears or pain
Old things are gone, all things are made new again

John 1:4 – “In him was life, and that life was the light of all mankind.”

Revelation 21:23-25 – “The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp. 24 The nations will walk by its light, and the kings of the earth will bring their splendor into it. 25 On no day will its gates ever be shut, for there will be no night there.”

Joy Poured Out

Joy poured out like living water on the sons of men
To those who look to You with hearts that are open
Casting all our cares into prayers, heaven bound
Receiving help in time of need with answers that astound

There is none like You, oh God, in heaven or on earth
Words cannot describe Your power or immense worth
The dimensions you created cannot hold Your entire Presence
Through the lens of love You rule, with great omnipotence

Worthy, worthy are You Lord, of our love and trust
Because You rule with grace and mercy, all Your ways are just
That is why we love You so with joy and love complete
As our hearts are knit with You around Your mercy seat

Meal From Heaven

In a manger stark and cold
Lay One who came from eons old
The place where animals came to eat
Lay the “Bread from heaven” smiling sweet

Eat His flesh and drink His blood
To save you from death’s whelming flood
His body broken for sin’s due
His blood poured out for me and you

The perfect sacrifice came down
To bear sin’s curse and wear its crown
Remember when you come to eat
The meal from heaven, bittersweet

John 6:48–55 – “I am the bread of life. 49 Your ancestors ate the manna in the wilderness, yet they died. 50 But here is the bread that comes down from heaven, which anyone may eat and not die. 51 I am the living bread that came down from heaven. Whoever eats this bread will live forever. This bread is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.”
52 Then the Jews began to argue sharply among themselves, “How can this man give us his flesh to eat?”
53 Jesus said to them, “Very truly I tell you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood, you have no life in you. 54 Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood has eternal life, and I will raise them up at the last day. 55 For my flesh is real food and my blood is real drink.”
Exodus 16
John 6:25–69
Matthew 26:26-29

In the approaching Christmas season, I thought of Jesus, the Lamb of God, being born in Bethlehem. Why did it mention that He was laid in a manger, the place where animals eat? Surely, He was laid other places but they did not mention those places. As I meditated on it, many scriptures came to mind about Jesus being the bread of life. Then I thought about the scriptures where we are called His flock, and Jesus is our shepherd. He leads us to the places where He wants us to eat and drink. So, I asked the Lord for a poem about it. This is what came to me: In a manger stark and cold…... The first place we see the baby Jesus, the Bread of Life, is a place where food is offered, a manger.

Capture Our Hearts

Lord, send forth Your angels with bows of love
Supply flaming arrows from Your arsenal above
Release them to earth striking targets of those
Making disciples of ones who once were foes

Our hearts must be changed to conform to Your ways
Set us on fire to love You all of our days
Then our desires will be to obey
Go where You lead, so we dare not stray

Give us hearts of wisdom so we understand
In the day of evil, we will be able to stand
Dying to self, frees us, to live for You
You have captured our hearts and made them all new

Proverbs 2:9–11 – “Then you will understand what is right and just and fair—every good path. 10 For wisdom will enter your heart, and knowledge will be pleasant to your soul.”

Psalm 45

As I was praying for our nation this morning, a picture came in to my mind. I saw angels with bows of love shooting flaming arrows into the earth. I sensed the angels’ weapons were not for destruction but were meant for setting hearts on fire to love. One of the things I had been praying for in our nation, was for people’s hearts to be changed to love God and His ways. Unless that happens, we can change the laws of our land but if our hearts aren’t changed, then our nation is lost. Let us pray for God’s love to capture our hearts so we can love Him like He deserves.

Restore Desire

It only takes a day
For my heart to start to stray
When devotion pulls away
From my God and His “way”

I must stop and then inquire
From Holy Spirit my sanctifier
“What must I do to restore desire
When the world dampens my holy fire?”

I hear Him say, “Draw close to Me
Follow close with fidelity
Through eyes of faith you’ll then see
Your reward in eternity”

“Set your heart on that distant land
Where your Bridegroom will take your hand
On that day you’ll understand
The way, the truth, and the life God planned”

Hebrews 11:13-16 – “All these people were still living by faith when they died. They did not receive the things promised; they only saw them and welcomed them from a distance, admitting that they were foreigners and strangers on earth. 14 People who say such things show that they are looking for a country of their own. 15 If they had been thinking of the country they had left, they would have had opportunity to return. 16 Instead, they were longing for a better country—a heavenly one. Therefore, God is not ashamed to be called their God, for he has prepared a city for them.”

John 14:6 – “Jesus answered, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.”

John 14
Hebrews 11:8–16

Our Turn to Arise

The greatest generation had taken their place
To fight the evil attacking the human race
This war had caused them to draw close to God side
As they began to battle the enemies’ strong tide

They won the war and peace returned to the earth
A time of renewal, a time of rebirth
Our enemy did not quit, new evil seeds were sown
Causing the earth to reel and nations to groan

Now it is our turn for us to arise
To battle the evil as it multiplies
The only way to win is through God above
Using His weapons of faith, hope and love

Judges 3:1–4 – “These are the nations the LORD left to test all those Israelites who had not experienced any of the wars in Canaan 2 (he did this only to teach warfare to the descendants of the Israelites who had not had previous battle experience): 3 the five rulers of the Philistines, all the Canaanites, the Sidonians, and the Hivites living in the Lebanon mountains from Mount Baal Hermon to Lebo Hamath. 4 They were left to test the Israelites to see whether they would obey the LORD’s commands, which he had given their ancestors through Moses.”

Ecclesiastes 9:11-18
Judges 2:6–23

My dad served in Japan in the Second World War. He was on his way over to Japan by boat as part of the invasion force when peace was declared, so, he stayed instead as an occupying force. He was a part of the greatest generation. During Easter dinner yesterday he was telling us of his service during that war.
As I was thinking of his stories this morning, I thought of that army that had served and fought in World War II. It was an honorable army that fought with humility, courage, faith and compassion. No wonder they called it the greatest generation.
Now there are great enemy spiritual forces trying to take over our generation. It is our turn to arise and battle this horde of evil trying to take over the world. Our only hope is to turn to the Lord and to do it His way. If we do, our victory will be sure.

When Christ is Revealed

Oh, what a Day, what a wondrous Day
When Christ is revealed in glorious array
Every knee will bow and every tongue confess
That Christ is Lord and His power measureless

He humbled Himself and died on a cross
Paying sin’s price so we would not suffer loss
God exalted Him to the highest place known
At His right hand upon celestial throne

One Day He’ll return with thunderous display
To gather together all who follow His way
He will defeat every enemy both wicked and proud
Every eye will see Him coming in the cloud

Philippians 2:9–11 – “Therefore God exalted him to the highest place and gave him the name that is above every name, 10 that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, 11 and every tongue acknowledge that Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father.”

Hebrews 10:11-14 – “Day after day every priest stands and performs his religious duties; again and again he offers the same sacrifices, which can never take away sins. 12 But when this priest had offered for all time one sacrifice for sins, he sat down at the right hand of God, 13 and since that time he waits for his enemies to be made his footstool. 14 For by one sacrifice he has made perfect forever those who are being made holy.”

Obeying God

When I woke last night, I sensed the Lord very near
Though I listened closely His voice I could not hear
I looked at the time and wondered what it meant
The book of Romans came to mind so that is where I went

It is not by hearing we are righteous in God’s sight
Only by obeying God do we show Him our delight
The requirements of the law must be written on our heart
Studying God’s Word daily is the place to start

His Words will accuse us or defend us on that day
When the secrets of men’s hearts will be on full display
Faith comes by hearing, but without works it is dead
Study God’s Word daily so you won’t be misled

James 2:26 – “As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.”

Matthew 7:21-23 – “Not everyone who says to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter the kingdom of heaven, but only the one who does the will of my Father who is in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in your name perform many miracles?’ 23 Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I never knew you. Away from me, you evildoers!’”

New Day Dawning

Before that great and dreadful day Elijah will appear
He will turn the hearts of fathers to their children near
Then the hearts of children will return with many tears
Delivered from their bondage and their many fears

God’s Spirit will be poured out into all the earth
Showing men God’s love, their value and great worth
The sun of righteousness will rise with healing in its wings
Our faces will reflect this glory that the Spirit brings

Your children will return, coming from afar
Guided by God’s Spirit and the Morning Star
There is a new day dawning, emerging from the night
The Lord will rise upon us bringing nations to God’s light

Malachi 4:5–6 – “See, I will send the prophet Elijah to you before that great and dreadful day of the LORD comes. 6 He will turn the hearts of the parents to their children, and the hearts of the children to their parents; or else I will come and strike the land with total destruction.”

2 Corinthians 3:18 – “And we all, who with unveiled faces contemplate the Lord’s glory, are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory, which comes from the Lord, who is the Spirit.”

Revelation 22:16 – “I, Jesus, have sent my angel to give you this testimony for the churches. I am the Root and the Offspring of David, and the bright Morning Star.”

Malachi 4
Isaiah 60:1–9
Exodus 34:28–35
2 Peter 1:19

Before the great and dreadful day of the Lord, God promises us that if we pray, He will turn the hearts of the fathers to their children, and the hearts of the children to their fathers. Stand on this in faith and believe that God will do as He says. In the darkness of that evil time, God promises to send His glory to all who are looking to Him. As we gaze upon the Lord, we will reflect His glory to a lost and dark world just as the reflected light of the morning-star announces the beginning of a new day dawning.

Victory Waiting

A new song of freedom rings across the Earth
Celebrate with joy at our nations rebirth
Look with eyes of faith at the victory waiting
With the armies in heaven fully participating

A call to arms is sounding-to your battle station
The enemy has plotted our total decimation
With the heavenly powers You have given to us
In faith, we know, we will be victorious

I will call on the Lord who is worthy of praise
Who answers men’s prayers with mighty displays
In the day of war, I will put my trust in You
The outcome of the battle You already foreknew

You train my fingers for battle and my hands for war
The enemy lies in wait outside of my front door
In faith, I can see my victory waiting
Giving me the courage for their obliterating
