Just Thankful

I just want to be thankful, for so much you’ve given me
Even when I ache all over, from catching cold’s misery
There are blankets to cover me, when shivering from the cold
So many people have nothing, not even a sheet to fold

I am just so thankful for medicine to alleviate pain
And a roof to cover me from the cold and driving rain
Water is coming from everywhere, my eyes, nose and pores
So many people have nothing, no money, food or stores

Lord, help me to be just thankful, even when feeling so bad
You are always there for me, in the good times and the sad
If anything is noble or true–I will think about such things
Content to follow You always, no matter what life brings

Philippians 4:6-7 – “Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. 7 And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.”

Philippians 4:8-19

I wrote this when suffering from a bad cold, cough and sore throat. I chose not to feel miserable and tried to think of all the things I was thankful for.

Keys to Open Any Door

When waiting for God’s will a counterfeit might come along
It is sent to test you–will you fall for it or be strong?
The Lord is searching out true hearts, will we look to Him?
As we wait and trust God, the way grows brighter instead of dim

If you try to make things happen–then it becomes your will
Your plans begin to spiral and quickly go downhill
The things we trust in most, will then become our shame
Will you turn to God or will He become your blame?

Obedience and faith are the keys that will open any door
Make the Lord your delight, your desires He will restore
Commit your way to Him, be still and wait patiently
“One day your door will open,” says the Lord who holds the key

Greater Than These

Thankful, so thankful, of all that You’ve given
Blessings on earth, a foretaste of heaven
Greater than these, is Your Presence with me
I know it by faith, even though I cannot see

Inspiring moments, pictures and places
Traveling adventures and interesting faces
Greater than these, is beyond heaven’s gate
Promises revealed, after earth’s long wait

Miracles I’ve seen, prophecies fulfilled
Battles that were won and enemies killed
Greater than these, are the crowns that I earned
By standing for truth, even when I was spurned

Positions I’ve gained while walking earth’s sod
Accolades won here from walking with God
Greater than these are rewards laid up for me
And hearing, “well done,” spoken by Thee

1 Peter 1:8-9 – “Though you have not seen him, you love him; and even though you do not see him now, you believe in him and are filled with an inexpressible and glorious joy, 9 for you are receiving the end result of your faith, the salvation of your souls.”

Silly Little Message

I feel all squiggly, jiggly, just not quite myself
Sometimes even upside down like a toy upon a shelf
Now, just listen to me, when you’re feeling out of sorts
God loves you very much even when you’re full of warts

This is a silly little message, sent to make you smile
Sometimes you need to laugh when you are going through a trial
A cheerful heart, like medicine, you decide to take
Can change a situation from unbearable-to just an ache

If we could see from God’s eyes, there is a reason for everything
Move out now in faith and let your heart begin to sing
The choice is yours to make, reach up, grab hold of hope
Joy is waiting for you, drop that bucket full of mope

Proverbs 17:22 – “A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”

Romans 8:28
Acts 16:16-40

I am a cheerful, happy person most of the time. Many years ago, when my husband was still alive and it was one of those rare days when something was bothering me, I would come to him and say, “I don’t feel like myself today.” With a feigned, shocked expression on his face, he would teasingly ask, “who are you then today?” That would make me laugh. Almost immediately I would feel better. That’s the power of laughter and knowing someone cares. Of course, this poem does not apply to grief or depression, but more to life’s everyday irritations and troubles.
Another funny memory that happened many years ago, was when I was with friends and we were trying to decide who would drive to an event we were all going to. My blind friend, Grace, chirped up, “I’ll drive.” All of us laughed and laughed-Grace, even harder. Even funnier was the fact-she did have a driver’s license! Since she was blinded in her 20s, she had always renewed it, believing one day she would be healed. That is an example of the faith she walked in.

Arm of the Lord

To whom has the arm of the Lord been revealed?
To those who are chosen-but to others it’s concealed
The death of the Lamb, portrayed on Passover’s table
Started life in a manger born in a Bethlehem stable

We all, like sheep, have gone astray
Each of us has turned to his own way
So, the Lord laid on Jesus, the iniquity of us all
To those who believe and on His Name call

There is no greater power than the arm of the Lord
He created the heavens and the earth by His Word
It was the Lord’s will for Him to die on a cross
All who believe this will not suffer loss

Like Jesus, we must die, to the world and to sin
Only by His power can our new lives begin
We can’t do it on our own, let Him live through you
The arm of the Lord reveals He is faithful and true

Bethlehem

Bethlehem, House of David, carrying royal line
Kings were born inside of you by ancient heavenly design
Flocks raised on your hillside, by David, shepherd-king
Heard the music of his harp as praises he would sing

Bethlehem Ephrathah, your name means, “house of bread”
Out of you, came One who, by which multitudes were fed
Christ is a picture of the heavenly manna raining from on high
Coming down to give us life-to suffer, then, to die

Bethlehem, on your grassy hills, the Temple lambs were raised
Protected by the shepherds as the young ones sweetly grazed
As the time of Passover came, they were carefully inspected
Only the best and purest white for sacrifice selected

Bethlehem, on your hills one night, the angel’s praise rang out
“Peace on earth, goodwill to men,” they were heard to shout
The perfect Lamb of God was born-the shepherds came to see
Inspecting the gift that God sent down to die for you and me

Rhythm of the Harvest

Put your trust in Me, with faith My promises hold
Let go of any fear, believe My Word, be bold
Obedience is the way you prove your love for Me
Many are the rewards that stretch to eternity

I send My cleansing rain with the Spirit’s power
To nourish and provide causing you to flower
I carefully prune each branch so your fruit can grow
As you then mature, I give you seed to sow

In the rhythm of the harvest is a secret deep
You cannot reap a field, if the seed you keep
I give you seed to eat, but also seed to sow
You must learn the timing of the Spirit’s flow

Your seed will surely run out if you do not plant
If you want great yield, you must sow extravagant
I send My bountiful rain to those who trust in Me
In the rhythm of the harvest, you will find the key

When it comes to giving–some people stop at nothing!

2 Corinthians 9:6-7 – “Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously. 7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.”

2 Corinthians 9:10-11 – “Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness. 11 You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.”

Luke 6:38 – “Give, and it will be given to you. A good measure, pressed down, shaken together and running over, will be poured into your lap. For with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.”

Quietly Wait

Me:
I only want to hear Your Words, not my thoughts most vain
As I sit and listen Your Presence to attain
Thoughts and feelings from this world clamor so intense
I must still my heart to give You eminence

Lord:
You have chosen wisely to listen for My voice
There are many consequences to your every choice
It is in My Presence our hearts are knit together
Through the storms of life, I am here to help you weather

If you are always speaking, how can you hope to hear?
Be still and listen for My voice, invite Me to draw near
Give Me time to answer you as you quietly wait
There are many ways I speak to communicate

Thoughts that come to mind might be My voice you hear
I might send a picture to your mind that isn’t very clear
Stop and ask Me what this means and what do I require?
Obedience, trust, and love is My main desire

If a scripture comes to mind, that is the place to start
I speak through My Word that you have hidden in your heart
When you quietly wait, I am willing to draw near
My Presence you are seeking will suddenly appear

Dreams Inside You

Did you ever think that life would turn out like it did?
What did you dream of when you were just a little kid?
I placed those dreams inside you when you were in the womb
Hoping you’d fulfill them before you reached the tomb

Your dream would not be worth much if it did not cost you
Anything of value comes with a price that’s due
It might cost you everything to pursue what’s in your heart
Some people never get there, some people never start

I gave you the ability to reach your every dream
Those hindering times you lost, I can now redeem
I am for you, not against you, believe and know it’s true
Together we’ll rejoice when your dream comes into view

2 Samuel 24:24-25 – “But the king replied to Araunah, “No, I insist on paying you for it. I will not sacrifice to the LORD my God burnt offerings that cost me nothing.”

Matthew 13:44-45 – “The kingdom of heaven is like treasure hidden in a field. When a man found it, he hid it again, and then in his joy went and sold all he had and bought that field.

Altogether Lovely

Heaven is the home where I now abide
A new place is forming to bring My waiting bride
I have gone ahead to prepare the way
A new heaven and earth will appear on that day

I choose to dwell with those who’ve been tested by fire
Having lived and making Me their chief desire
They had been counted worthy to suffer for My Name
They are the ones who walked with Me and then overcame

What will you bring to the King of the whole earth?
What do you have that has a priceless worth?
I desire purity, obedience, and love
You are altogether lovely, My bride, My precious dove

Revelation 21:1-4 – “Then I saw ‘a new heaven and a new earth,’ for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2 I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3 And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, ‘Look! God’s dwelling place is now among the people, and he will dwell with them. They will be his people, and God himself will be with them and be their God. 4 ‘He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death’ or mourning or crying or pain, for the old order of things has passed away.’”

Psalm 101:6 – “My eyes will be on the faithful in the land, that they may dwell with me; the one whose walk is blameless will minister to me.”

1 Corinthians 3:11-15 – “For no one can lay any foundation other than the one already laid, which is Jesus Christ. 12 If anyone builds on this foundation using gold, silver, costly stones, wood, hay or straw, 13 their work will be shown for what it is, because the Day will bring it to light. It will be revealed with fire, and the fire will test the quality of each person’s work. 14 If what has been built survives, the builder will receive a reward. 15 If it is burned up, the builder will suffer loss but yet will be saved—even though only as one escaping through the flames.”

Acts 5:41 – “The apostles left the Sanhedrin, rejoicing because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the Name.”
