Me:
I want the living water that Jesus talked about
Everywhere I look is suffering from great drought
The springs that once flowed free are a dry and dusty bowl
I want the living water to satisfy my soul

When I drink this water, my spirit is revived
Offering it to others, the dead become alive
The fields are dry and thirsty waiting for the rain
Whoever drinks this water will never thirst again

Lord:
You cannot reap the harvest without this living water
I’ll send My Spirit forth, upon your sons and daughters
They will prophesy and miracles will flow
When you drink My living water, My Spirit I’ll bestow

As I opened my bedroom blinds this morning and gazed at the fountain on my patio, the words, “living water,” came into my thoughts. I knew it was the title to a poem. As I sat down to meditate on John 4:4-42, the words to this poem came to me.
Water is a symbol of the Holy Spirit. Many Christians have been praying for a revival for some time now. Are you thirsty for more of the Spirit of God? Ask for the living water to satisfy your soul.

Fierce is the battle against the giants in our land
Who will join God’s army? Who will take a stand?
Some give up quite easily because of what they see
Faith looks not at facts, but in the Lord’s ability

If God can stop the sun in the middle of the day
He can expose the darkness as His people pray
God controls the weather as He rides the ancient sky
Sending hail, rain and snow to defeat and terrify

Everything we go through is a lesson and a test
Telling us of God’s great glory and our promised rest
We can wander through the land or take a stand and fight
Victory goes to those who live by faith and not by sight

Joshua 10:11 – “As they fled before Israel on the road down from Beth Horon to Azekah, the LORD hurled large hailstones down on them, and more of them died from the hail than were killed by the swords of the Israelites.”

Job 38:22 –23 – “Have you entered the storehouses of the snow or seen the storehouses of the hail, 23 which I reserve for times of trouble, for days of war and battle?”

Joshua 10

The book of Joshua is about Israel taking the land that God had promised them through Moses, and their commander, Joshua. In chapter ten, God shows His power and His help by hurling large hail stones down on Israel’s enemies from the sky. Verse eleven says that more of the enemy died from the hailstones than were killed by the swords of the Israelites. Not only that, Joshua asked God to have the sun stop in the sky so that he can continue to win the battle that was being fought that day. God did as Joshua asked.
These were not normal enemies they were fighting but giants. If you remember forty years prior to that they refused to enter the land because the giants were so big and their faith was too small. They were looking at the facts and not God’s ability to overcome the giants.
Once they started moving forward in faith God moved on their behalf forty years later.
What is it that you need God to do for you? Don’t look at the facts. Reach out in faith to conquer.

The earth will start to shake at the sound of giants falling
Listen and take heed as you hear My prophets calling
They call My army forth with directions from My throne
Your prayers are mighty weapons, now take aim and throw your stone

Hear the giants falling as My people take a stand
They are moving in great power, all across the land
Angel armies lead the way from behind the scene
As you follow closely, great victories you will glean

These are the days that Isaiah talked about
The rising of My glory, in the world throughout
This light will scatter darkness that covers all the earth
Creating an awakening and a new rebirth

1 Samuel 17:45-47 – “David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with sword and spear and javelin, but I come against you in the name of the LORD Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46 This day the LORD will deliver you into my hands, and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals, and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. 47 All those gathered here will know that it is not by sword or spear that the LORD saves; for the battle is the LORD’s, and he will give all of you into our hands.”

Isaiah 60:1-3 – “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.
2 See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you. 3 Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.”

It wasn’t until David slew Goliath that courage came upon the armies of Israel. They had been fearful up until that point. That’s what great leaders do. They inspire people to follow them. Great leadership is rising all across our land. They are inspiring great confidence in God’s people. Do not be afraid to follow these leaders for God is with them.

A storm is advancing covering the earth like a cloud
At its head are men of war, deceitful, greedy, proud
Know My army is also advancing, hidden by My hand
Enemies’ plots are being exposed and the things they’ve planned

A clash of world views is at the battle’s core
Recapturing the mountains of influence can only come by war
My people have been asleep, lulled by the music of the world
But a wakening is coming as My gospel is unfurled

“Behold the Bridegroom cometh!”, is the cry ringing out
To wake My sleeping church, in the world throughout
Those who are wise, will arise, clothed in garments white
I am coming for a holy bride in the dark of night

Most people don’t see it–the signs of an approaching conflict. They only see their little world around them and are only concerned with what concerns them. That was not the church of the Book of Acts. They were an advancing army, full of passion for the gospel of Jesus Christ and ready to go out to the world. Signs, miracles and healings accompanied them. They were watching and waiting for the Lord’s return.
It seems like since then the church has lost its passion and, in many cases, is sleeping. Jesus spoke about this slumbering church in the parable of the ten virgins in Matthew 25 (KJV) when He told of His return. Both the wise and the foolish were found asleep. The message that woke them up was, “Behold the Bridegroom cometh!” The wise ones heard and started to prepare, but the foolish ones were not concerned. Which one will you be?

In the midst of my trial is overwhelming joy
Though the enemy comes to rob, kill and destroy
Surround me with Your favor as with a shield
My refuge is in You, and to Your ways I’ll yield

It is in my trials that faith is proved strong
Praise is the loudest when I turn pain into song
When I have done all, I will stand firm in the Lord
I’ll declare out in faith what I’ve learned in Your Word

Lord, how majestic is Your Name in all the earth
What is mankind that You find in them such worth?
When I consider the heavens, moon and stars

What trials are you going through that might have you feeling down? Think about the definition of faith. It is believing without seeing, as though you see it coming into being.
If you believe that all things work for good to those that love the Lord, you can rejoice in anything that comes your way. Then you can thank and praise the Lord for any trial and not just in spite of it.

You have been so faithful, You have been so good
All the struggles in my heart, You have understood
During my time of testing, You have been so near
In the darkness of the night, You catch my falling tear

Examine my thoughts and intents so they become like Yours
Fill me with unselfish love that grows and then matures
I don’t have it in me to love others like You do
But, as Your Spirit fills me, You change my sinful view

Romans 12

We recognize selfish love in other people but we don’t always recognize it in ourselves. God calls us to love like He loves, with an unselfish love. Do we even know what that means? We see so little of it in the world around us. When we start to operate in that kind of love the world will take notice.

I only want to do what You are leading me to do
Others may object, and my intentions misconstrue
That is not my worry, I don’t need to justify
Help me to be obedient, with singleness of eye

The enemy sends his plans to distract and then destroy
We get off track so easily and then we lose our joy
Help me fix my gaze as I run the race to win

Tell Me, what kind of army can win a war that way?
An army without discipline is in disarray

You have much authority when you use My Name
I want to send you forth, My gospel to proclaim

I have found myself watching too much TV and internet shows lately. Deep inside of me I know I should be reading God’s Word more than I do. Yes, I know I need more discipline in my life. God’s Word has convicted me. Lord, please help me to hear Your voice and follow You.

Wake up, oh children, and fight the good fight
Darkness covers this world to bring on the night
My church has been sleeping, their lamps have gone out
Instead of faith, I see fear, worry and doubt

The fields are white with harvest, whom shall I send?
You are more than a servant I call you My friend
Become yoked to Me and learn of My ways
You’ll find rest for your souls for all of your days

The harvest is ready but the workers are few
Will you go with Me, can I count on you?
Go forth with Me in love, and power will attend
Those who were My enemies will become My friend

In Matthew 25 in the parable of the 10 virgins, all of them were found to be sleeping, not just the foolish ones. The difference is, when the cry went out to proclaim that the bridegroom was coming, the wise virgins started to get ready. Obedience to the Lord is part of the difference in being wise or foolish. The other part involves seeking the fire of the Holy Spirit to guide our actions. Jesus told His disciples in Acts chapter 1, not to leave Jerusalem until they received the gift of the Holy Spirit. Only then were they able to move forth in power to bring in the harvest. Ask for the fire of the Holy Spirit to come into your heart to lead and guide you.

You give me songs in the night I play upon my heart
Memories flood my soul of the grace You impart
You give me so many good things I don’t deserve
Oh, for the words to tell of all the wonders I observe

I see the works of Your saints done behind closed door
Clothed with humility as their lives they outpour
The world doesn’t recognize they are heirs of the King
These hidden ones shine with the glory that You bring

Giving You glory to extend Your immense fame

Displaying great faith as they move with Your power

John 15:4 – “Remain in me, as I also remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.”

I woke in the middle of the night with such a grateful heart. Memories were coming to me of all the wonderful things the Lord has done in my life. I got out of bed to read God’s Word. Sometimes my day gets too busy to read the Bible so when I wake up and can’t get back to sleep, I enjoy getting caught up in my reading. There are so many examples in scripture of the Lord using ordinary people to do extra ordinary things. That means any of us are qualified to be used of God mightily. However, what this world system considers great things and what God considers great things are two different things.
