Heart Strings

Through the strains and trials of life, a melody appears
You might not see it coming, it comes not through the ears
Feel your heart awakening to its soulful tune
Listen to the words laying on your heart’s strings strewn

Let the music in your heart escape to God above
Share with one another its tune of heavenly love
Sometimes the notes are high, uplifting, reaching to the sky
Sometimes they are low, like in a valley, where you go to die

You make this music in your heart and to its tune you dance
Try always giving thanks to God in every circumstance
The melody you play on the heart strings of your soul
Can translate into a song that is very beautiful

Ephesians 5:18-20 – “Do not get drunk on wine, which leads to debauchery. Instead, be filled with the Spirit, 19 speaking to one another with psalms, hymns, and songs from the Spirit. Sing and make music from your heart to the Lord, 20 always giving thanks to God the Father for everything, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.”

Psalm 27:6 – “Then my head will be exalted above the enemies who surround me; at his sacred tent I will sacrifice with shouts of joy; I will sing and make music to the LORD.”

Psalm 34

King of My Heart

Me:
Lord, what is the message You have for me today?
What part of my heart do You not have full sway?
I submit myself to Your holy, searching gaze
Reveal any thoughts that goes against Your ways

I willingly enthrone You as King of my heart
From the laws of Your land, I will not depart
To be a part of Your kingdom is my desire
I know that holiness must be my attire

Lord:
Desire Me and My kingdom above everything
Then you will not have need of any other thing
Wherever your treasure is, there your heart will be
Will you choose the things of this world or will you choose Me?

Be dressed ready for service and keep your lamp burning
You know not the hour of My returning
Great is the reward of those who follow Me
You will reign in My kingdom throughout eternity

1 Timothy 2:8-10 – “Therefore I want the men everywhere to pray, lifting up holy hands without anger or disputing. 9 I also want the women to dress modestly, with decency and propriety, adorning themselves, not with elaborate hairstyles or gold or pearls or expensive clothes, 10 but with good deeds, appropriate for women who profess to worship God.”

Revelation 19:6-8 – “Then I heard what sounded like a great multitude, like the roar of rushing waters and like loud peals of thunder, shouting: “Hallelujah! For our Lord God Almighty reigns. 7 Let us rejoice and be glad and give him glory! For the wedding of the Lamb has come, and his bride has made herself ready. 8 Fine linen, bright and clean, was given her to wear.” (Fine linen stands for the righteous acts of God’s holy people.)”
Acts 13:22 – “After removing Saul, he made David their king. God testified concerning him: ‘I have found David son of Jesse, a man after my own heart; he will do everything I want him to do.’”
Psalm 37:4 – “Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

Revelation 19
2 Chronicles 1:7-12

You Love Them So

Me:
I want to love like You, Lord, all people far and near
No matter if they scorn me or want to cause me fear
Everyone needs to have this kind of love You give
It is unconditional and ready to forgive

If one would listen closely, one might even hear
When You speak through Your Word instead of hearing by their ear
I must be faithful to declare it so the world might know
What Your plan and purpose is, and how You love them so

Lord:
Awake from your deep slumber, and rise to light the night
With the glory of My Presence, your hearts to reignite
How great is the love I lavish daily upon you
Go and do likewise the things you see Me do

Isaiah 60:1-3 – “Arise, shine, for your light has come, and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.
2 See, darkness covers the earth and thick darkness is over the peoples, but the LORD rises upon you and his glory appears over you. 3 Nations will come to your light, and kings to the brightness of your dawn.”

John 13:34-35 – “A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another.”

Isaiah 61
1 John 2:1-11; 3:1-24

Fill Me to Overflowing

Lord:
“Have you learned to love yet?”, I heard the Lord ask
“Have you hidden your feelings behind a pretend mask?
I give My love freely to the sons of men
If you feel a lack, just ask, I will gladly send”

“It is in receiving love you will have enough to share
By your loving actions, they will know you care
Write the love I give you on the tablet of your heart
So, you will remember it is there to give, impart”

Me:
Fill me to overflowing so I have enough to give
Only by Your love will I truly learn to live
Thank You for this love that You have lavished upon me
I’ll take Your love and share it with others accordingly

Tales of a Savior

God’s Word is exalted above all earthly things
Knowledge too wonderful is the message that it brings
There are tales of a Savior sent to a lost earth
Leaving heaven’s glory to show men their true worth

Jesus came to die to redeem sinful men
All who believe this will join Him in heaven
His innocent blood was shed to pay for our sin
When we die to self our new life will begin

There are tales of a Savior who loves us so
One who lived and died for us many years ago
He invites us to live with Him forever in heaven’s glory
There we’ll get to hear everyone’s life story

Chief Delight

Making You my chief delight is what I want to do
My main desire in this life is to get to know You
It is in life’s testing I find out what is true
In Your Word I’ve found such love-I must now pursue

There is nothing I have done to earn the love You give
Even when I mess up, I find that You forgive
You are making me into the image of Your Son
Teaching me this kind of love to give to every one

Let it be my chief delight to learn each lesson well
In everything You have me do, may I then excel
It will be my chief delight to hear You say, “Well done!”
When I reach far heavens shore and every battle’s won

Undivided Heart

Do not I search the heart and see what is there?
What can you hide and think I am not aware?
With your mouth you say one thing but then do not do
You are double minded with a heart that’s askew

You say that you love Me but then don’t obey
You read My Word but don’t believe what I say
Draw near to Me and I will draw near to you
I will oppose the proud, but will the humble pursue

Those whom I love I rebuke and correct
Therefore, repent and your attitude inspect
If you have a divided heart, you are caught in a snare
You can be set free by repentance and prayer

James 3:9–12 – “With the tongue we praise our Lord and Father, and with it we curse human beings, who have been made in God’s likeness. 10 Out of the same mouth come praise and cursing. My brothers and sisters, this should not be. 11 Can both fresh water and salt water flow from the same spring? 12 My brothers and sisters, can a fig tree bear olives, or a grapevine bear figs? Neither can a salt spring produce fresh water.”

Ezekiel 11:19-20 – “I will give them an undivided heart and put a new spirit in them; I will remove from them their heart of stone and give them a heart of flesh. 20 Then they will follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws. They will be my people, and I will be their God.”

Psalm 86:11 – “Teach me your way, LORD, that I may rely on your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear your name.”

Revelation 2:23 – “Then all the churches will know that I am he who searches hearts and minds, and I will repay each of you according to your deeds.”

James 1:22–27, 2:1–24, 3:13–18, 4:1–6
Revelation 2:1-7, 3:1–6, 3:14–22

Lead Me in the Way

Holy Spirit lead me in the way that I should go
I set my heart on things above where grace and mercy flow
It is there that I will find help in time of need
Christ on high, is seated there, to ever intercede

I set my mind on things above, not on earthly things
Released are peace and wisdom that the Holy Spirit brings
Let Your Word act as a filter so that I may see
Deceptions, lies and attacks brought by the enemy

Holy Spirit lead the way to Your holy hill
For the glory of the Lord His perfect law fulfill
Clothed with every virtue so Christ is seen in me
Then the world will see true love and perfect unity

Past Promises

Sometimes I am too busy to listen for Your voice
Your Spirit is watching as I weigh each daily choice
Will I ask You for direction or go my willful way?
I need to take the time to listen and quickly obey

Standing on past promises You whispered in my ear
In faith I wait for Your fulfillment as the time draws near
I choose not to make them happen in my time and will
I trust You know the way for Your promise to fulfill

My heart knows You are faithful and will Your promise keep
Though the wait is painful and causes me to weep
I choose to trust You, Your promises to hold
When You are done testing me, I will come forth as gold

Hebrews 11:11-12 – “And by faith even Sarah, who was past childbearing age, was enabled to bear children because she considered him faithful who had made the promise. 12 And so from this one man, and he as good as dead, came descendants as numerous as the stars in the sky and as countless as the sand on the seashore.”

Job 23:10 – “But he knows the way that I take; when he has tested me, I will come forth as gold.”

Genesis 15, 16, 17

Has there been times in the past where you thought you knew God’s will? Did you feel deep inside that God had spoken to you about a matter you cared very deeply about? Did you feel confident that God would answer your prayer? How tempted were you to take matters into your own hands when God didn’t fulfill it in the time that you thought it should be? Abraham and Sarah also felt that God had made a promise to them, that they would have a son together. When it didn’t happen in their time, they took matters into their own hands. Their disobedience produced a son by another woman. This decision had eternal consequences. God was still true to His Word. Because God was faithful, He still gave them their promised son. Abraham believed God and it was counted to him as righteousness.

Draw Close

Me:
What’s wrong with me, Lord, what is the heart of the matter?
It’s hard to hear Your voice amongst all the clatter
I have not sought Your Presence or heard Your sweet voice
With my eyes on the world, I’ve not made the best choice

Lord:
Draw close to Me and I will draw close to you
My Spirit drops down like the precious morning dew
You can’t see Me coming but I am there nonetheless
Waiting to hear the sound of your heart acquiesce

You can’t hear Me clearly until you’re quiet and still
I am always speaking but you have a free will
Will you draw close or seek the world’s bright lights?
Return My love and make Me your chief delight

1 John 2:15-17 – “Do not love the world or anything in the world. If anyone loves the world, love for the Father is not in them. 16 For everything in the world—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life—comes not from the Father but from the world. 17 The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.”

James 4:8 (NKJV) – “Draw near to God and He will draw near to you. Cleanse your hands, you sinners; and purify your hearts, you double-minded.”

1 John 3
Revelation 2:1-7

Acquiesce is not a word I use. I had to look up the definition. It means give consent by keeping silent, to submit quietly.
What an awesome privilege that the God of the universe desires our attention and love! On every page of the Bible, the Lord invites us to draw close to Him and get to know Him. What is your response? Will you still your heart and mind enough to hear His voice?
