Lavish Love

As I prayed for grace and mercy at the start of the new day
I opened up my hands to receive, expecting no delay
A waterfall of living water splashed upon my head
“There is enough to give away!”, in astonishment I said

Then I asked for hope and faith, to fill up what I lack
I knew I’d have to wait for those, so I was given joy to pack
“Lord, I need Your wisdom, to know what’s right and sure”
“Search My word intensely, forsaking sin’s allure”

“Lord, send me Your forgiveness, so I can walk in peace”
He gave enough to share with others helping strife decrease
“Now I need Your love, to surround me where I go”
Cascades of golden oil, then began to flow

“You must share these gifts with others, so they’ll come to Me
Let them know how much I love them lavishly
Invite them to the wedding feast, in My courts above
Together you’ll forever be, surrounded by My love”

View Differently

The reading of Your Word transports me to Your Presence
My spirit is refreshed, alive are all my senses
Another place, another time, many lessons to be learned
Revealing grace and mercy, which can’t be bought or earned

Your Word a spring of water deep, refreshes and renews
When I jump into its pages Your thoughts come into view
Cleansing body, soul and spirit from earth’s clinging dust
Transform me to Your ways, my thoughts to readjust

Conform me to Your heart, oh Lord, so I might know Your will
Your perfect purpose for my life I can then fulfill
My life has great significance when Your Presence I pursue
Streams of living water flowing, coming into view

Romans 12:2 – “Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.”

Shadowlands

A longing, burning, yearning-for a distant place
An eternal home, where I’ll see my Savior’s face
Now it seems like Shadowlands, only in my dreams
This hope lives in my heart, where it softly gleams

Now I only know in part and cannot clearly see
Often tripping over boulders placed by the enemy
Sometimes bound by circumstance, it’s hard to even move
That is when I walk by faith, thereby truth to prove

When time ceases to exist, there’ll be no moon nor sun
Eternal bliss will be the prize of spiritual battles won
This earthly life will prove to be, the real true Shadowlands
Then we’ll know as we are known and fully understand

Psalm 84:5-7 – “Blessed are those whose strength is in you, whose hearts are set on pilgrimage.
6 As they pass through the Valley of Baka (weeping), they make it a place of springs; the autumn rains also cover it with pools. 7 They go from strength to strength, till each appears before God in Zion.”

1 Corinthians 13:12-13 – “For now we see only a reflection as in a mirror; then we shall see face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I am fully known.
13 And now these three remain: faith, hope and love. But the greatest of these is love.”

Revelation 21:22-27

I Give It to You

Give Me all your cares, concerns and worries too
All that’s happening in your life I already knew
My Spirit’s called the Counselor, He longs to hear your voice
Why will you go to others, when He can be your choice?

I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined by fire
It is through many trials that I become your heart’s desire
Make Me your delight and learn of all My ways
Then you’ll walk in peace and light all your earthly days

Yes, Lord, I hear You, I give it all to You
The sacrifices that I make will prove my love is true
The purifying fires You send will consume all my dross
So, when the “Day of Revealing” comes, I will not suffer loss

Revelation 3:18 – “I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.”

Hope and Faith

Lord, I love You more today, even more tomorrow
I’ll share with You my joy and gladness and my pain and sorrow
As You live inside of me, conform me to Your will
Expectantly I wait before You… listening… hopeful… still

Like a bird that flutters down, hope fills up my soul
I know the plans You have for me are surely wonderful
It is faith that tells me so and I do believe
Even the bad works for my good, both I will receive

I don’t want to waste the time You’ve given me on earth
In the face of opposition, I will declare Your worth
For those lost in sin and darkness, let me shine Your light
In the battles for Your truth I volunteer to fight

There is no place for hope and faith when I walk Heaven’s Hall
Only on the fallen earth can I answer Heaven’s call
Now to be victorious, now to help someone
Now to sacrifice for God, His battles to be won

Every moment a precious gift I’ll never have again
To share salvation with the lost or bear reproach of men
The place for all these things is here, my faith put to the test
I’ll have eternity to enjoy, a place of promised rest

2 Corinthians 4:16-18 – “Therefore we do not lose heart. Though outwardly we are wasting away, yet inwardly we are being renewed day by day. 17 For our light and momentary troubles are achieving for us an eternal glory that far outweighs them all. 18 So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen, since what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.”

John 4:34-38
Isaiah 60 and 61

Darkness and Deception

Our enemy seeks to rob, kill and destroy
Lust, sin, darkness and deception he’ll employ
His ways must stay hidden so we don’t find out
Trying to cause us to sin, grumble and doubt

God allows them to do this so we see our heart
Will we follow God’s ways or soon fast depart?
We can’t change the past, so put it under Jesus’ blood
When Satan accuses us in an overwhelming flood

Work out your salvation with trembling and fear
You’ve fallen from the way if God’s voice you don’t hear
God is always speaking so, stop, listen and learn
Our enemy also speaks so you must discern

If we choose darkness the truth we will shun
But if we walk in the light we’ll abide in the Son
There is none without sin so don’t be deceived
Mercy and grace wait for those who have believed

Philippians 2:12-16 – “Therefore, my dear friends, as you have always obeyed—not only in my presence, but now much more in my absence—continue to work out your salvation with fear and trembling, 13 for it is God who works in you to will and to act in order to fulfill his good purpose.
14 Do everything without grumbling or arguing, 15 so that you may become blameless and pure, “children of God without fault in a warped and crooked generation.” Then you will shine among them like stars in the sky 16 as you hold firmly to the word of life. And then I will be able to boast on the day of Christ that I did not run or labor in vain.”

1 John 1, 2

Our enemy cannot harm us as long as we are in the light. If we choose the path of darkness we stray out of God’s protection.
That was the sin of the prophet Balaam. He was paid to curse God’s people but could not. So, he knew if he could get God’s people to sin then his curses would work because they stepped out of God’s grace and protection. This story is found in the book of Numbers chapters 22, 23, and 24.
Do you know what’s in your heart? The temptations and trials of life will help to show you what is deep inside of you. Whose ways will you choose?

Quiet Desperation

So many people living lives of quiet desperation
Isolated, so alone, living under condemnation
Putting on smiling faces in the midst of the congregation
They aren’t seen or noticed by, ones who are in conversation

With head lowered, they hurry by without any expectation
They are with silent companions, Suffering and Frustration
These ones are on a journey of much of the population
Jesus walks with them close by hoping for communication

Will they turn and confide in Him with this realization?
He wants to share their life with Him and show them His salvation
One day they’ll know the reason why they were put in that situation
When in heaven they awake and see their transformation

Psalm 17:15 – “As for me, I will be vindicated and will see your face; when I awake, I will be satisfied with seeing your likeness.”

Psalm 18:33 – “He makes my feet like the feet of a deer; he causes me to stand on the heights.”

Psalm 18

There are many women I have met over the years who lived lives of quiet desperation. As I sit here wondering about them and what happened to them, I pray that they found the strength to forgive and to live lives of victory in Christ Jesus.
As I was praying for them, I thought of the book, “Hinds Feet in High Places,” by Hannah Hurnard. This poem seems to echo the character of Hannah’s story. Much-Afraid was on a journey with companions, Suffering and Sorrow. All along the way, the shepherd, Jesus, was with her even when she couldn’t see Him at times. This is one of my favorite books of all time. It is the story of one person living a life of quiet desperation and meeting a shepherd, Jesus, who took her to high places and showed her many victories along the way. When Much-Afraid awoke at the end of the story, she was totally and beautifully transformed.

Underneath Your Feet

Me:
Lord, let Your victory be total, let it be complete
Until all of Your enemies are underneath Your feet
The battle has been fierce in the heavenly realm above
Answering our prayers sent on the wings of Your dove

Lord:
I will make My enemies a footstool for My feet
They have rejected Me upon My mercy-seat
I gave them many chances to repent and be set free
However, they did not choose life, they did not choose Me

The battle is not over, do not leave your assigned post
I am teaching you to war alongside My heavenly host
I’ve given you authority to teach you how to reign
Many have been called, but only a few will obtain

This offer is for all to complete the earthly race
A victor’s crown for those who daily sought My face
As they gazed upon Me, they became what they beheld
By the power of My Spirit–their earthly life excelled

Psalm 110: 5-6 – “The Lord is at your right hand; he will crush kings on the day of his wrath. 6 He will judge the nations, heaping up the dead and crushing the rulers of the whole earth.”

Psalm 94, 110
Isaiah 63:1-6

In this life, the Lord is teaching us to rule and reign with Him. I hear many Christians say, God is in control, and ultimately that is true. However, He gave mankind the earth to have dominion over. Under God’s direction He wants us to learn to rule and reign. We do not have true authority unless there are true consequences. Therefore, the results are not always what the Lord wanted them to be.
For example, in 2 Kings 13:14-19, the Lord directed King Jehoash to do a prophetic act spoken by the prophet Elisha. Because the king did not choose to consult the Lord how many times to strike the arrow on the ground, he failed the test. God wanted him to defeat all of his enemies, but because the king did not hear God’s voice, he did not gain total victory.
One day all of God’s enemies will be under His feet. The amazing fact is that He wants to share His victory with those of us who chose to do battle alongside of Him and were obedient to His leading. Many are called, but few are chosen. Do you hear Him calling? Will you be obedient?

Your Rewards

My heart is overflowing with gratitude and peace
As I wait in Your Presence, I feel my joy increase
An answer to my prayer has come, after long delay
My thankful heart is searching, for right words to say

You are looking to fulfill, each desire that You gave
But first You search our hearts to see what other gods we crave
All who worship other things will be put to shame
You alone are worthy of the world’s acclaim

Lord, You are exalted far above all earthly gods
Delivering us from evil, against the steepest odds
One day every knee will bow before Your throne in glory
With each receiving Your rewards for their earthly story

Psalm 37:4 – “Take delight in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”

Hebrews 11:6 – “And without faith it is impossible to please God, because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek him.”

Psalm 97

Gratitude and peace can fill our heart because of answered prayer. They should also fill our heart as we wait in faith for prayers to be answered. Faith is believing without seeing as though it already exists. We must also believe that God rewards those who earnestly seek Him. That is why we can always have thankful hearts and peace in our soul regardless of what we see with our eyes happening around us.

Wings of the Wind

Spring and fall are the times kings set for war
When traps are set and sprung amongst the battle’s roar
Many storms are gathering in the heavens above
Angel’s warring on behalf of God’s saints thereof

The Lord thunders from heaven riding storm clouds in the sky
On the wings of the wind, in the darkness He does fly
The earth trembles and quakes at His angry display
Lightning, hail and storm are His battle array

The Lord is my rock, my shield and high tower
I am saved from my enemies by His great power
He is a shield for those who take refuge in Him
All praise to the Lord who rides the cherubim

Job 38:22–24 – “Have you entered the storehouses of the snow or seen the storehouses of the hail, 23 which I reserve for times of trouble, for days of war and battle? 24 What is the way to the place where the lightning is dispersed, or the place where the east winds are scattered over the earth?”

Psalm 18:10–11 – “He mounted the cherubim and flew; he soared on the wings of the wind. 11 He made darkness his covering, his canopy around him—the dark rain clouds of the sky.”

Psalm 18

Is there any greater picture of the Lord than of Him riding storm clouds like a chariot in the midst of the battles taking place on the earth? How awesome is our God that He uses the forces of nature like the wind, rain and hail to battle on His saint’s behalf? Whatever the storms are in your life, picture Him coming to your rescue on the wings of the wind. Take to heart the words of Psalm 18 and claim them for yourself.
